| Kent Police aim to help out |
POLICE officers from Sheppey have stepped in with an offer to save this year's World Walking the Plank Championships in Queenborough.
Organisers have pulled the plug on the event after a series of anti-social behaviour occurred in the past three years of the 13 year event.
However, police officers have agreed to offer support at the event originally scheduled for August 14.
Sgt Stef Martin said his team had all agreed to support and volunteer free of charge in their own time.
"We feel it's important for the Island," he said. "The community wants it to go ahead and it's sad, so we will make it go ahead."
